Fortenberry Statement on American Service Members Killed in Afghanistan

Lincoln, NE -- Congressman Jeff Fortenberry today released the following statement regarding the deaths of 30 American service members, whose transport helicopter was shot down in Afghanistan by the Taliban.  Twenty-two of the casualties were members of a Navy SEAL unit.

"Like most Americans, my heart breaks for these service members and their families. Fighting a world away, they gave their lives to make a difference--for each of us, for America's security, and for all who believe in stopping the forces of barbarism.  We will never forget their heroism; we will forever honor their sacrifice.  Their deaths are a solemn reminder of the great danger still faced by America's sons and daughters in Afghanistan."
