Great Big Ideas
One of the important duties of Congress is developing, crafting, and monitoring laws that affect you. Against the trend of phone-book-sized legislation that has a difficult time getting passed in a divided Congress, I have introduced a series of shorter bills that tackle a critical aspect of a larger problem.
In the case of healthcare, I recently introduced a one-line bill that allows prescription drug manufacturers to sell insulin directly to patients. This would transform the lives of the 30 million Americans with diabetes who struggle with the extraordinarily high cost of insulin. In the case of ALS, I have a short bill that makes it possible for all patients in clinical trials to ultimately gain access to potentially life-saving treatments.
I have many other legislative initiatives that I invite you to review in my 2019 Year-End Report. Please contact our office to share your thoughts on current legislation that may affect you, your family, and your community.
