Debt Update
I wanted to take a minute this evening to share a video update with you regarding the ongoing debt debate in Congress. I appreciate having heard many of your views as we seek a solution to our national debt limit, and work to get our nation's fiscal house in order.
I certainly understand the frustration being expressed by many Americans like you. I share your concern. It is hard on us from Nebraska to see this degree of discord and brokenness in government. When I was on the Lincoln City Council, despite divisions within government, we had to balance the books. There was never enough money for the ideal number of police officers, fire-fighting apparatus or amount of streets and parks improvement we would have liked. But we were forced to make tough decisions and make ends meet, just like Nebraska families have to.
As your representative, know that I continue to participate in daily meetings and briefs to determine the best course of action. I believe Congress and the President have an obligation to restore a sustainable fiscal trajectory for our nation. It is my sincere hope that a substantive and responsible agreement can reached as soon as possible.
Please take a moment to view this video update. I will continue to keep you informed of any further developments.
