WASHINGTON, D.C. – Nebraska representatives from both the House and Senate offered their response after President Trump’s address to a joint session of Congress Tuesday night.

Sen. Deb Fischer said the President laid out admirable goals of rebuilding the military, keeping communities safe, strengthening infrastructure and promoting American innovation.

“I was please to once again hear our president emphasize his intention to increase workplace flexibility for families. This is an area I have focused on for nearly four years in the Senate. We have a real opportunity to take significant steps on these issues to improve the lives of families across this country.”

She said she looks forward to working with President Trump toward a more prosperous America.

Congressman Jeff Fortenberry made the following statement after President Trump’s address.

“The President was clear and direct. That is his style. He began with an important statement condemning hatred. From there he offered a sweeping list of proposals directed at one thing: strengthening America.”

Fortenberry is a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
