Leadership Bellevue graduated the class of 2017 at a community event, “Partners in Excellence,” at Platteview Golf Club in Bellevue last week. The keynote speaker was Bellevue Mayor Rita Sanders. Rep. Jeff Fortenberry, R-Neb., was there with other community leaders.

Leadership Bellevue helps participants determine what Bellevue needs, while sharpening leadership skills. The program shows future leaders the community’s past, present and future with presentations of current leaders, tours, panel discussions and communication between participants and community decision-makers. The goal is to let each participant face Bellevue’s challenges, and to inspire them to accept responsibility to lead.

The class emcees were Naviere Walkewicz, US Strategic Command; and Eric Mahowald, Offutt 55th Wing. The yearly celebration presents two community awards: “Partner in Excellence” and “Distinguished Alumni.”

“Partner in Excellence” recognizes partnerships that created impact for the betterment of Bellevue.

The Offutt community award went to Marathon Ventures; accepting the award for Marathon Ventures was John Larsen.

The Partners in Excellence Distinguished Alumni Award was presented to Roger Cox, community relations coordinator for Bellevue Police. This award recognizes a dynamic, progressive community leader who has impacted the community and shows leadership through integrity, strength, and vision and is an alumnus of Leadership Bellevue.
