Fortenberry: Congress Needs to Stay Until We Act on the Border
Jul 31, 2014
Press Release
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Jeff Fortenberry today made the following statement about the bill to secure the border:
“It’s irresponsible for Congress to leave Washington before acting on a border bill. Communities are suffering. Children are suffering. Our immigration policy is in disarray.
“The President should address the nation on the issue, do all in his power to secure the border, and repatriate children back to their families in a humane way. The bill before the House would help do this in a responsible manner. Either way, the status quo is not acceptable. Action cannot wait any longer.”
Fortenberry is a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
