Fortenberry Signs Commitment to Civility
(Lincoln, NE) – Congressman Jeff Fortenberry (R-NE) yesterday signed the Commitment to Civility statement.
This declaration comes at a time of increasing tension and rising political violence in the United States. Members of the United States of Representatives have signed a commitment to be cooperative and considerate to their colleagues, while remaining dedicated to encouraging productive dialogue. Respect and statesmanship are essential principles of good governance amidst increasing division and discord.
Congressman Fortenberry also cosponsored legislation to support the designation of a National Day of Civility, where people are encouraged to be respectful and mindful of others in daily life.
At this time, the statement has been signed by over 130 Members of Congress with bipartisan support.
Fortenberry serves on the House Appropriations Committee.
