Fortenberry Spearheads Funding Request for OC-135B Aircraft Replacement
(Washington, DC, September 10, 2018)— Members of the Nebraska Congressional delegation have urged leadership of the House and Senate Appropriations Committee on Defense to adopt the Senate’s language to fully fund the OC-135B Aircraft Replacement Program as part of their reconciliation of House and Senate versions of the 2019 Defense Appropriations Act.
“The OC-135B aircraft fly in critical support of the Open Skies Treaty, a 34-member global agreement that enables observation of signatory compliance with nuclear arms agreements, particularly that of the Russian Federation, in the interest of international stability,” Fortenberry said.
"The replacement of these aircraft is vital to our national defense strategy. Their advanced age and condition thwarts the Air Force’s ability to fully execute the mission of the Open Skies Treaty, while keeping our airmen safe,” Fortenberry added.
