Fortenberry Statement at Agriculture Appropriations Subcommittee Hearing on International Food Assistance Programs at USDA and USAID
(Washington, DC) – Congressman Jeff Fortenberry (NE-1) offered the following statement today at a hearing of the Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regarding international food assistance programs at USDA and USAID:
“The United States leads the world in agriculture and humanitarian assistance. Due to our leadership, capacity, and generosity, countries in need turn to us first,” Fortenberry said. “The ultimate purpose of our aid is two-fold: to create conditions in which persons can lead lives of dignity and hope; and to build just and good societies. These goals are critical to international stability and our own security,” Fortenberry added.
