Fortenberry Statement on House Passage of Violence Against Women Act
(Washington, DC) – Congressman Jeff Fortenberry (R-NE) issued the following statement today on the House reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act.
“For the first time since coming to Congress I voted present because I reject the premise that Congressional dynamics prevented us from partnering on such an essential issue as the Violence Against Women Act,” Fortenberry said. “I refused to support a bad no vote; I refused to support a bad yes vote,” he added.
“Hopefully there will be another opportunity to get this right and widely supported,” Fortenberry stated.
Congressman Jeff Fortenberry is a member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies.
