Fort Report: You're Invited - Health Insurance Forum

Oct 3, 2014

Last spring, I placed a call to a constituent to learn more about his difficulties as a small businessperson. Even though he was sitting at the Nebraska Red-White Spring Game, he took the call. He was pretty eager to talk.

The new health care law, while helping some, is hurting many others. Increased costs, higher deductibles, and reduced choice are creating more stress on families, small businesses, and the overall economy. I also continue to hear from many Nebraskans who are confused about how to find affordable health insurance since the implementation of the new health care law. The policy debate over the law is going to continue. But with that said, we need to deal with the situation we find ourselves in.

To better understand how to pick a health policy, I am hosting an expert forum on Wednesday, October 8 at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Lincoln to help you make informed decisions on health insurance options. The forum will feature helpful information from Martin Swanson, Administrator for Health Policy at the Nebraska Department of Insurance, and Michael Gray and Chris McPike with the Nebraska Association of Health Underwriters. These experts can answer your insurance questions during and after the forum.

Wednesday’s forum will provide timely insights as you consider health insurance options for you and your family. I hope you will join us for a wide-ranging, open discussion on an issue that affects both your well being and your wallet.
