Video Fort Report: Tragedy in Newtown

Dec 20, 2012

Earlier this week, I sat in my office in Washington looking at pictures of the precious little children who were senselessly killed in Connecticut last Friday. What can you say? My heart breaks for them, their parents, and the people of Newtown.

It is unthinkable that a person would kill innocent little children, with such cravenness and violence. These children's Christmas presents are still sitting under the tree. Their moms and dads are still looking at them. In Congress where we pride ourselves on rhetorical flourish, precision of argument, and volumes of words: what can you say? What can we all do right now? Other than just be present, in spirit, with these families in their grief, and perhaps hold those close to us even tighter...

Yesterday, I spoke before the U.S. House of Representatives about this tragedy. I invite you to click here to view my full speech.
