Fortenberry Statement on Vaccine Mandate

I am against the federal government vaccine mandate. I made the choice to take the vaccine myself, support its public use, and respect the developments in the science.  However, as an example, I believe the members of my own staff have the right to make this personal health decision for themselves after careful consideration, as I do for all Nebraskans. In order to achieve proper results, public health needs must be held in balance with individual medical circumstances and be respectful of those who have reasonable objections.  I also think it's important to understand the science of natural immunity better.

A divisive Washington dictate like this has no precedent and may not survive court challenge, nor objective medical scrutiny.
