WASHINGTON, D.C.—Congressman Jeff Fortenberry today released the following statement after the House of Representatives voted 245 to 189 in support of repealing the recently-enacted health care reform law:

“Strengthening our health care system is very important to every American.  The right type of reform will reduce costs, improve health care outcomes, and protect vulnerable persons.

“However, the current health care law is a complicated mess that shifts costs to more unsustainable government spending and erodes health care liberties.  America deserves better.

“I support a repeal of the measure, and the crafting of a new commonsense policy with new insurance models for families, farmers, and small businesses.  Any replacement must continue to build upon a culture of health and wellness, allow newly-insured persons to keep their coverage, and also retain protections for pre-existing conditions.”
